Getting your house ready to sell DOESN'T have to be hard

Getting your house prepared to sell is actually a lot easier than you may think. Often times, something as simple as paint can make a space feel fresh and appealing to a buyer! Below are a few additional tips to get you prepared! We'd also be happy to recommend a design consultant!

#1 - Fresh Paint

One of the easiest and least expensive ways to make your house feel fresh is to add a new coat of paint. Colorful walls should be neutralized! The popular color right now is grey, yet beige tones also remain a classic option. If you have wood trim in the house, a grey/beige blend may be ideal for the walls.

Here are a few options to consider:

MEN 7065-2 Aria Gray

SW 7015 Repose Gray

SW 7016 Mindful Gray

SW 9170 Acier Gray

SW 7031 Mega Greige

SW 7037 Balanced Beige

SW 6106 Kilim Beige

#2 - Consider A Few Updates/Repairs

A lot of updates aren't worth doing if you aren't planning on staying in the house, yet there are a few that make sense and will help you make more on the sale of your house. Below are few ideas:

Patch any holes or old water stains

Repair torn window screens

Erase pet damage - scratched trim and doors

Erase pet smells - have carpets cleaned/replaced

Update Kitchen and Baths - painting cabinets can go a long ways

Replace carpet if it's really dated

#3 - Deep Clean

Do a deep clean of the entire house. Make sure to dust ceiling fans, clean windows, sweep under cabinets, clean out kitchen cupboards, and any other areas that might not be regularly cleaned.

#4 - Declutter

Declutter the house and remove small items that take up space on counters and shelving. Small figurines, doll collections, and other such things might be a valued part of your lifestyle and making you feel at home, yet they can distract prospective buyers from seeing themselves in the house. A good rule of thumb is to remove anything smaller than a basket ball. Doing a one hour consultation with an interior design consultant may help you establish what should stay and what should go.

#5 - Curb Appeal

Updating the exterior of your house can pay huge dividends! It's the first impression when people see the house for sale online and when they pull up to the house. Hiring a lawn care company to treat your yard for weeds and fertilize your lawn is well worth the small investment. You can also add a few fresh bags of mulch to existing landscaping to freshen things up!

With these few steps, setting up your home for selling success doesn't have to be hard or expensive.
